Nurse Educator
Instructor of Associate Degree Nursing – Weekend Program (12‑Month Position)
Full–time, 12‑month faculty position teaching first‑year nursing students in the Weekend Associate Degree Nursing Program. Duties include classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction, student advising, and program assessment. Relocate between Chase City, South Boston, Keysville and Alberta as required. Opportunities to teach 12–15 credits per semester.
Duties- Teach 15 credit hours (weekends and/or weekdays or evenings) per semester at locations served by the college
- Provide student advising and support
- Complete all clinical partner requirements, including required vaccinations
- Participate in professional activities and program meetings
- Contribute to program development and assessment
- Assist in documentation required by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and the Virginia Board of Nursing
- Teach first‑year students in the Nursing Program
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in Nursing program, to be completed within 2 years
- Current unencumbered Virginia nursing license (or ability to obtain one prior to employment)
- Minimum two years of clinical experience in medical‑surgical nursing
- Ability to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student population
- Proficient use of technology and information systems required by the college
- Demonstrated teaching skills
- Understanding of the community college environment and mission
- Master’s degree in Nursing Education
- Teaching experience at the college level
- Knowledge of ACEN accreditation standards
- Knowledge of Virginia Board of Nursing educational guidelines
- Operation of a State vehicle – Yes
- Travel – Required
- Will be subject to a criminal background investigation, biometric checks, employment and education verification, and credit checks as applicable
- Must complete the Commonwealth’s Statement of Economic Interest if required
