• Provide nursing care within adult institutions using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating institutional patients per standards of practice.
• Deliver 24‑hour nursing care, telemedicine, chronic care clinics, sick call screenings/triage, medication administration, patient education, and basic life support/emergency care.
• Document all pertinent information into the health record while maintaining confidentiality and coordinating with other departments as needed.
• Delegate tasks and manage workload, hours, days, and locations as assigned.
• Provide coverage as needed to meet institutional staffing requirements.
• Offer evidence‑based nursing care and pursue continued competence through education/certification focused on correctional nursing.
• Accept assignments to other duties or locations to meet clinical and administrative needs of the Department.

• Possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia RN license (or be a recent nursing graduate in VA with NCLEX‑RN exam scheduled at time of application).
• Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers with current certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required upon hire.

• Experience in a correctional setting.
