Eastern Shore Community College is seeking part‑time Nursing Clinical Lab Instructors for Accomack and Northampton Counties. This role involves instruction, supervision, and evaluation of students in classroom, clinical, and lab settings and entails working weekdays, occasional Fridays, evenings, and weekends as required.
Functional Responsibilities- Provide instruction, supervision, and evaluation of student performance in classroom, clinical, and lab settings.
- Supervise and evaluate groups of students (usually 6‑10) in hospital or health‑care settings.
- Understand course objectives and be familiar with the nursing curriculum.
- Maintain collaborative, positive relationships with clinical sites, faculty, and staff.
- Work during day, evening, or weekend shifts as determined by assignments.
- Maintain student records, including accurate clinical hours, and sign off at the end of each clinical day.
- Meet and communicate with students regularly to provide academic feedback.
- Accurately complete clinical paperwork.
- Participate in all mandatory trainings, meetings, and site‑specific orientation required before and during the semester.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May assist the agency or state government in emergency situations declared by the Governor.
Required Qualifications- Current, unencumbered registered nurse license in Virginia or multistate licensure privilege to practice nursing in Virginia.
- Minimum five (5) years of recent full‑time clinical experience as a registered nurse, with required Medical/Surgical nursing experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or nurse education from a regionally accredited college or university.
Knowledge of proven teaching strategies that promote student success. Sufficient technology skills to work productively with significant information and instructional technology resources.
