Nursing Faculty

Job Description

This is a full‑time, 9‑month, 24‑pay teaching faculty position with full state benefits, offering generous holiday time and a healthy work‑life balance.

The two‑year Associate Degree Nursing Program at Blue Ridge Community College is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing (VABON). The program aims to prepare students to become competent nursing professionals, focusing on client care across the lifespan.

Faculty responsibilities include:

• Instruction of didactic, clinical, laboratory, and simulation courses.
• Development of lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Participation in scholarly engagement, professional development, teaching pedagogy, institutional service, and community outreach.
• Facilitation of a teaching demonstration during the interview process.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned and to assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

• Master’s Degree in Nursing or current enrollment in an MSN program.
• Registered nurse license in Virginia (or eligibility to obtain immediate licensure) without disciplinary action.
• Minimum of two years of direct patient‑care experience as a registered nurse.
• Dedication to the community college mission.
• Proficiency with various computer software, especially online instruction tools.
• Effective teaching skills and the ability to create lesson plans.
• Passion for nursing and teaching.
• Capability to use creativity, innovation, and compassion to engage students.
• Ability to teach a diverse student population.

• Previous teaching experience.
• Recent acute care experience in a hospital setting.
• Experience with instructional technologies.
