- $10,000 sign‑on bonus or up to $10,000 student loan repayment may be available for eligible new hires.
To function as a medical health provider to the inmates by performing initial and ongoing medical assessments, prescribing appropriate medication and/or mechanical measures to assist inmates with their medical needs, and assisting with preparation/modification of medical treatment plans. Assignments to other duties or locations may be necessary to meet the clinical and administrative needs of the Department.
Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited school.
- Licensed to practice in the State of Virginia as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Extensive knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities (symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health‑care measures).
- Comprehensive knowledge of current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) diagnostic criteria.
- Knowledge of professional and ethical standards of practice and interventions appropriate for the assigned population.
- Ability to function effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team and to communicate effectively with staff.
- Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers with current certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required upon hire.
- Experience working and treating in a correctional or public healthcare setting.
- Autonomous Status.
