About This RoleThe part‑time Maintenance & Operations Specialist is responsible for maintaining grounds and amenities at County parks, buildings, and schools. The ideal candidate enjoys physical exertion as much as operating equipment. Responsibilities may include turf maintenance, athletic field maintenance, landscape maintenance and park amenity maintenance. Responsibilities typically require adaptation of procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to meet the specialized requirements of the position.
The Maintenance & Operations Specialist applies procedures and standards to specific situations, troubleshoots problems and issues commensurate with relevant experience and works under general supervision.
High School Diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of experience with the maintenance of baseball/softball fields and operating infield grooming equipment.
Preferences- 3+ years of experience with the maintenance of turf, athletic fields, landscape, and parks.
- Class A CDL
- VA Fertilizer Applicator certification
- VA Registered Technician Pesticide Applicator certification
- Experience working with a team in a leadership role.
- Experience working and interacting with and around customers – both internal and external to an agency/organization.
- Experience operating various equipment including but not limited to zero turn mower, multiple deck mower, loaders, truck and trailer combinations, infield grooming equipment etc.
- Experience working outdoors and in adverse weather conditions.
- Experience working a varied schedule including weekends and some holidays.
This is a part‑time position up to 30 hours per pay period, Saturday and Sunday.
Special Requirements- Must pass a pre‑employment physical examination.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass local, state and federal background check.
- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- May be required to respond to emergencies after normal working hours, as needed.
$31.50-$37.05/hr
