Position Description

This position requires a strong safety background, attention to detail, and a proven track record of safety excellence. The role requires a high level of flexibility and commitment to field operations, and the ability to work in dynamic environments and travel as project needs dictate.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a field environmental health and safety representative and point of contact for projects within a regional territory.
  • Fairly and consistently enforce all company environmental, health and safety policies.
  • Conduct routine worksite safety inspections and intervene in all unsafe activities or conditions.
  • Perform hazard identification and risk assessments and recommend appropriate engineering and/or administrative/procedural controls.
  • Participate in project planning activities and assist in the development of site‑specific Environmental Health and Safety Plans.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of environmental, health and safety‑related standards and work procedures, and monitor their application and effectiveness.
  • Participate in incident investigation and analysis (Tap Root).
  • Participate in regulatory audits and environmental/safety management system audits.
  • Maintain and facilitate regulatory inspection programs.
  • Administer new hire orientation, project orientation, tailgate safety training, and other task‑specific environmental health and safety training as required (e.g., confined space entry, respiratory protection, wetland best management practices).
  • Participate in weekly safety meetings and call‑ins.
  • Assist in the development and facilitation of employee committee objectives.
  • Report to the Manager of Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance.
  • Spend most daily activity directly on project sites.
  • Occasional opportunities to travel for coverage outside of the assigned region.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety or related technical field AND a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a construction safety environment.
  • Completion of the OSHA 500/501 Training Course.
  • Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Safety Management Specialist (SMS) with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Background in ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, or ANSI Z10‑2019 is a plus.
  • Certification as a First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor is a plus.
  • Must possess knowledge of OSHA Standards for the Construction Industry, U.S. DOT, and MUTCD Standards.
  • Must possess highly effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to operate independently with a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  • The successful candidate will require an acceptable driving record.
