Piper Maddox is working with a fast-growing energy developer that’s building large-scale battery storage projects across the U.S., backed by a major global energy company. They have a strong pipeline of projects already underway and are continuing to expand, so this isn’t a “hopeful growth” story - it’s real projects moving forward and needing legal support right now.
This role sits directly with the General Counsel and will be the go-to person for real estate matters across the portfolio. You’d be leading negotiations with landowners, guiding projects from initial site control through construction and into operations, and partnering closely with the development team on how deals actually get done. It’s a highly visible position where legal is treated as a business partner, and you’ll have real ownership over strategy as the platform scales.
Key Responsibilities- Draft, review, and negotiate complex real estate agreements (leases, purchase options, easements, amendments, and site control documents)
- Oversee title, survey, environmental, and access diligence and manage acquisitions and closings
- Partner cross-functionally with development teams, executives, financial partners, and outside counsel
- Manage sophisticated negotiations with landowners and counter parties across a multi-project portfolio
- Develop internal legal processes, templates, and training to support a scaling platform
- 4+ years of real estate transactional experience (infrastructure or energy experience preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to independently negotiate complex real estate agreements
- Experience supporting diligence, acquisitions, and closings
- Strong communication skills with ability to advise both legal and business stakeholders
- Highly organized with ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
