Research Associate, Research Assistant​/Associate, Research Scientist

The Peace Lab in the Department of Forensic Science at Virginia Commonwealth University seeks a full-time Research Associate to work on an externally‑funded project. This is a restricted position; continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funds.

• Conduct wet‑lab experiments, sample preparation, and instrumental analyses as directed.
• Perform instrument maintenance and provide administrative support as necessary.
• Support communications with partnering agencies, data dissemination, manuscript writing, and coordinate project activities to complete aims in a timely fashion.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Experience with sample and reagent preparation, instrument maintenance on GCMS, data reduction, safety and chemical hygiene program, handling of controlled substances, quality assurance program maintenance, strong written and oral communication skills, training new staff, and Red Cap database entry.
• Demonstrated experience working in a respectful, professional, and civil environment with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students, or a commitment to do so.

• Experience with LC‑MSMS, inventory management, ordering, and receiving.
• Experience giving public presentations, either poster or platform.

$42,500 to $45,000
