Cashier Job Summary

The Cashier is responsible for receiving money from and disbursing money to customers, while maintaining a high level of customer service at all times.

18.40 USD Hourly

Washington Sailing Marina is open 7 days a week, and weekend availability is required for all staff. The cashier hours are between 9 am and 6 pm.

• Identify items and their cost and tabulate bills quickly and accurately using cash register, calculator, or other pricing equipment.
• Issue receipts, refunds, credit, or change to customers accurately.
• Maintain the cash register and its contents.
• Turn in cash drawer and reconcile sales at the end of each shift.
• Smile and greet customers entering the unit; answer questions and provide information on company products, promotions, and policies. Thank each customer.
• Maintain a clean and orderly cash station area; stock and maintain the sales area with various supplies and products.
• Maintain neatness and cleanliness of the retail operation.
• Maintain awareness of safety issues and report them immediately to the manager.

• Partial high school education; high school diploma or GED preferred.
• Mathematical skills.
• Excellent sanitation habits.
• Professional appearance.
• Ability to communicate and attend to guests with the highest standard of service.
• Ability to pass cash handling training.
• Problem sensitivity and the ability to recognize and communicate when a problem has occurred to management.

• Move about on foot to accomplish tasks, including frequent movements from place to place within the unit. Bend, lift, carry, reach or extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently.
• Lift, carry, and push up to 10 lbs. regularly, 10–15 lbs. frequently, and up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
• Withstand temperature extremes in indoor/outdoor environments.
• Read and write work‑related documents in English.
• Speak clearly and understand the speech of customers and co‑workers in English.
• Constantly communicate and receive verbal communication with other employees in a sometimes fast‑paced environment.
• Physical attendance in the unit to perform duties.
• Ability to stand for the entire work day.

• Knowledge of the cash register/computer used in the unit.
