Senior Sales Account Executive – Job Overview

The Senior Sales Account Executive generates advertising revenue by calling on established agencies, cold‑calling new prospects and demonstrating to potential clients the merits of television and digital advertising on WFXR/WWCW/ and Nexstar Digital platforms. The role serves Roanoke, Lynchburg, the New River Valley and surrounding counties. As a member of the team, you’ll visit local businesses, discover what makes them unique, and help craft creative plans to share that information with our audience to help their businesses grow and thrive.

• Implement strategies to consistently grow revenue and exceed revenue goals.
• Establish credible relationships with the local business community.
• Prospect, qualify, close, and grow new business.
• Make sales calls to existing and prospective clients.
• Maintain assigned accounts and develop new accounts.
• Prepare and deliver sales presentations to clients.
• Continue to learn and implement new strategies and products.
• Explain to customers how specific types of advertising will help promote their products or services in the most effective way possible.
• Advocate for company products and programs.
• Provide clients with information regarding rates for advertising placement in all media.
• Develop advertising schedules with clients and station personnel responsible for placing advertising into station media.
• Work with creative services in the production of client creative elements for broadcast and digital campaigns.
• Perform order entry, contracts, follow‑up, and collections.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work‑related experience.
• Minimum two years’ experience in media or digital sales.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Experience achieving long‑range objectives and implementing strategies and actions to achieve them.
• Knowledge of digital marketing basics (Google, Facebook, etc.) preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and basic office equipment required.
