Job Description
The Microbiology Laboratory Technician assists the Environmental Microbiology department in the preparation of environmental samples with established laboratory Quality Assurance programs and Standard Operating Procedures.
Shift- Full-time position, 40 hours/week (Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Must be available to work overtime and occasional weekends as necessary
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparation of samples using standard analytical techniques
- Recording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the technical manager
- Performing routine maintenance of instruments
- Conforming to laboratory QA/QC practices
- B.S. in Biology or other related science but at a minimum High School diploma or GED.
- Some laboratory experience preferred.
Previous production-oriented and laboratory experience preferred (awareness and ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines):
- Analytical and/or general science
- Scientific methods and method compliance
- Aseptic techniques
- Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures
- Knowledge of general laboratory practice, procedures, and chemical and biological hazards/safety
- Some laboratory experience preferred

San Air’s Syracuse location provides laboratory analysis for Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), Soil Vapor Intrusion, Industrial Hygiene (IH) – PV2120 and Renewable Energy – Methane to Markets, among others.
