Location: Dillwyn Correctional Center

• Ensure the safety and security of the public, staff, and inmates by maintaining effective custody and control, and complying with policy and procedure.
• Use evidence‑based practices and effective communication strategies to model appropriate behavior as part of collaborative, multi‑disciplinary teams addressing inmate needs.
• Provide security over adult inmates at the institution and while in transport.
• Supervise daily activities of inmates, observe and record their behavior and movements, and ensure their safe and secure confinement.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Demonstrated ability to read and understand workplace policies and procedures and prepare reports and documentation.
• Legal firearm possession in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Successful completion of medical screening, background check, and drug testing, including screening for marijuana use.

• Stable employment history, military or related criminal justice experience.
• Preferred minimum age 21 (waiver available for ages 18‑20).
• Bi‑lingual and multi‑lingual applicants encouraged.
