Security Officer III

The Corrections Officer will contribute to the public safety mission by providing safety and security for staff, inmates, and the public, ensuring effective and safe custody and control. Responsibilities include supervising daily inmate activities, monitoring behavior and movement, ensuring compliance with policy, and serving as a role model within a multidisciplinary team.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to read and comprehend workplace policies and procedures, and prepare reports and documentation.
• Legal possession of a firearm in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Successful completion of medical screening, background check, and drug testing (including marijuana screening).

• Stable employment history and experience in the military or criminal justice.
• Preference for applicants at least 21 years old (waiver available for 18‑20).
• Bi‑lingual or multi‑lingual applicants encouraged.

$6,000 sign‑on bonus available to eligible new hires.
