The Fire Watch Officer is a full/part-time, on-site role based in Southern, VA (Richmond - Goochland region), responsible for monitoring designated areas to detect fire hazards and potential safety risks. Daily tasks include conducting regular patrols, inspecting fire safety equipment and exits, maintaining logs of observations, and promptly reporting any irregularities or hazards to the appropriate contacts. The Fire Watch Officer responds to alarms and incidents according to established protocols, supports emergency procedures, and helps enforce safety regulations and site-specific rules.
The role also involves communicating clearly with clients, coworkers, and emergency personnel, and completing incident reports and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills to identify potential fire hazards, assess risks, and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Candidates should possess Security and Command skills to enforce safety protocols, maintain site control, and respond effectively to incidents.
- Candidates should possess foundational Cybersecurity and Network Security awareness when working around security systems and digital monitoring tools.
- Candidates should have knowledge of fire safety regulations, emergency response procedures, and basic first aid (certifications such as CPR or first aid are beneficial).
- Candidates should demonstrate reliable communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Candidates should meet any applicable licensing or guard card requirements for security personnel in Virginia; prior experience in security, fire watch, or related fields is an advantage.
