We are seeking a qualified candidate to serve as an Armory Support Specialist providing program management and administrative support services to the Arms, Ammunition, and Explosive (AA&E) Program within the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Acquisition and Logistics Department. Qualified candidates will possess strong communication and organizational skills, experience working across all levels, and demonstrated knowledge of the management, physical security, accountability and customer service of NCIS Arms and Ammunition Programs.

Additionally, strong candidates will have Records and Database Management experience.

• Assist in maintaining strict enforcement of the physical security of weapons to ensure that 100 percent accountability is maintained always
• Ensure weapons and ammunition are properly stored in designated areas
• Perform the functions surrounding the receipt, storage, pacing, issue and transfer of weapons items and associated equipment from the Department of the Navy to NCIS and customers
• Conduct assembly, disassembly and cleaning on various types of NCIS weapons and associated equipment
• Ensure weapons are in excellent working condition, have no damaged parts and are well cleaned and stowed when not in use
• Assist in maintaining strict enforcement of the physical security of weapons to ensure 100 percent accountability is maintained always.
• Ensure weapons and ammunition are properly stored in designated area
• Assist with range operations and qualify as Range Safety Officer (RSO) and Officer in Charge (OIC)
• Make recommendations to improve weapon’s management, maintenance and accountability procedures
• Maintain a safe work environment

• Must be able to pass an Ordinance Explosive Physical. Examination consists of a hearing test, eye test, and physical capability test- ordinance
• Must possess an active DoD SECRET clearance
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to lift at least 65 pounds due to the weight of ammunition and weapons crated or boxed
• Must be able to qualify and maintain an explosive driver’s license with vehicles up to at least 2 1/2 tons
• Must have knowledge of Naval Ordnance and Small Arms Weapons and be able to apply technical and administrative functions to Arms and Ammunition Program as it applies to Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and other Military Commands and Agencies
• Must understand ammunition handling procedures, storage specifications and requirements for storing ammunition to include the receipt, storage, packing, issue and transfer of ammunition items from the Department of the Navy to NCIS and customers
• Must meet requirements of the National Agency Check (NAC)

Candidates are required to have training in Explosive Safety, physical security, weapon maintenance and AA&E. The required training is as follows:

• Certification in maintenance of small arms for the following weapons (re-certification is required every three (3) years):
• Explosive Safety Qualification/Certification Program (re-certification is required every three (3) years):
  • Explosive Drivers Course
