Sign‑On Bonus: $3,000 available to eligible new hires.

• Provide safety and security for the public, staff, and inmates at the institutional and transport levels.
• Supervise daily inmate activities, observe and record behavior and movements to ensure safe, secure confinement.
• Apply evidence‑based practices and effective communication strategies within multi‑disciplinary teams to address inmate needs.
• Maintain compliance with policy, procedure, and custody standards.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend, and apply workplace policies, procedures, and report requirements.
• Legal authority to possess a firearm in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Successful completion of all pre‑employment requirements: medical screening, background check, and drug testing, including marijuana screening.

• Stable employment history, military or related criminal justice experience preferred.
• Applicants at least 21 years old preferred; waiver may be granted for 18‑20 year olds by the Unit Head.
• Bilingual and multilingual applicants encouraged.
