An exciting career awaits you at ASC, Australia's submarine company - the sustainer of Australia's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines in the AUKUS partnership. To deliver on this new and exciting work, we are seeking skilled individuals to undertake long-term, world-leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.
Placements are due to deploy in June 2026 and will be 8 - 11 months in duration.
ResponsibilitiesIn the role of Operator, your responsibilities are:
- Work from drawings and sketches to erect, maintain, and remove scaffolding in support of shipyard production operations.
- You will perform quality control inspections on scaffolding parts and materials for integrity.
- Construct temporary enclosures and plenums.
- Construct shipping skids, templates, and various mock-ups.
- Use transit to sight reference points on the ship as requested.
- Build, install, and remove ladders and platforms that support marine equipment and personnel access and egress.
- Install and remove temporarily decking used when ships permanent decking is removed.
The successful applicant must possess:
- Australian Citizenship
- An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance
- Minimum Intermediate Scaffolding AND Rigging licence
- Demonstrated experience in an environment with strict process and procedures.
- Proven ability to be flexible and an eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.
At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines. Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying.
This is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.
