Opportunity:
Part-Time (29 hrs./week) to Transition to Full-Time with Benefits After 6 Months
Pay rate: $17.88/hour.
Scott County is seeking a reliable, skilled, and motivated Maintenance Technician to join our Public Works team. This position begins as part-time (29 hours per week) with the intent to transition to a full-time, benefited role after a successful six-month period. If you enjoy hands-on work, take pride in maintaining public facilities, and want to grow into a long-term role with the County, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Position
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Maintenance Technician Group Leader, the Maintenance Technician performs a variety of skilled tasks including:
- Routine plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance
- Maintenance and repair of County facilities and equipment
- Mowing and landscaping of all County properties
- Operation and upkeep of mowing/landscaping equipment
- Supervising inmate labor during mowing operations
- Assisting with snow and ice removal
- Supporting County operations during emergency declarations
- Other related maintenance duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- Knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, electrical systems, and equipment repair
- Ability to safely operate mowing and landscaping equipment
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
- Ability to perform heavy physical work, including lifting, climbing, and equipment operation
Education & Experience
- Experience in maintenance, landscaping, or related fields preferred
Special Requirements
- Valid driver’s license (Commonwealth of Virginia)
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screening.
