About the Position

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Equipment Repair Technician – Install in our Communications Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Installing, removing, and repairing police, communications and other electronic equipment in VSP vehicles.
  • Servicing and repairing motor vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of equipment installation procedures and techniques related to police, communications, and other electronic equipment.

Skill

  • Diagnosing, repairing, and servicing motor vehicles.
  • The safe use of shop, woodworking, and mechanical hand tools.

Ability

  • To operate a rollback car carrier.
  • To read and comprehend automotive and equipment manuals, schematic diagrams, and other related technical documents.
  • To work independently and as part of a team.
  • To maintain strong attention to detail.
  • To communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing with personnel.
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License required.
  • Previous experience or training in the electrical/electronic/automobile field.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Additional Considerations
  • Virginia State Inspection certification preferred.
