CRANE & HOIST SERVICE TECHNICIAN (FIELD-BASED) – SURRY, VIRGINIA
Field-based technician role covering the Surry, VA area with regional travel. Independent, safe, and customer-focused service of electric overhead cranes and hoists.
CompensationCompetitive hourly rate up to $45/hour+ based on experience, skills, location, and credentials. Top-performing technicians earn additional through overtime, travel pay, premium site incentives, and specialized project work.
Responsibilities- Travel to customer sites to perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of electric overhead cranes and hoists.
- Service mechanical and electrical systems of cranes and hoists.
- Troubleshoot and repair 480 VAC/3‑phase electrical systems.
- Perform work independently while adhering to all safety and quality standards.
- Communicate clearly with customers, supervisors, and internal teams.
- Represent ACECO professionally at all job sites.
- Provide clear updates and recommendations based on equipment condition.
- Complete accurate service reports and documentation.
- Track work performed, findings, and follow‑up needs.
- Maintain accountability for service quality and reporting accuracy.
- Participate in on‑call rotation.
- Travel locally, regionally, and/or nationally as required; support urgent customer needs when necessary.
- Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical or trade certifications preferred.
- Experience
- 3–5+ years of hands‑on experience servicing electric overhead cranes and hoists preferred.
- Strong field service experience in industrial environments.
- Technical Skills
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (480 VAC/3‑phase systems).
- Solid mechanical troubleshooting and repair capability.
- Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards, lockout/tagout, and fall protection.
- Skills & Attributes
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Other Requirements
- Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
- Ability to verify identity and employment authorization (Form I‑9).
- Eligibility to access export‑controlled information where applicable.
- Willingness to undergo a background check, pre‑employment drug screen, and randomized drug testing during employment.
- Ability to meet posted work schedule and travel requirements.
- Ability to maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Willingness to follow all company safety policies and procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
- Willingness to complete required safety and compliance training.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Additional Travel & Conditions
- Travel locally, regionally, and/or nationally up to a total of 3 months within a 12‑month span.
- Willingness to participate in on‑call rotation.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a REAL valid U.S. Passport.
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to nuclear facilities and secure sites.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, climb ladders, and perform confined space work.
- Ability to work in industrial environments with exposure to weather, noise, and moving equipment.
- Field‑based work at industrial customer sites.
- Exposure to cranes, hoists, energized systems, and moving equipment.
- Work performed at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
- Strict adherence to safety protocols and PPE requirements.
