Do you enjoy diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of vehicles and equipment—including conventional automotive, heavy and light trucks, dozers, loaders, and other machinery? Join the Prince William County Department of Facilities and Fleet Management Fleet Division team and become part of an organization dedicated to keeping essential County operations moving.

Qualified candidates should have experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy vehicles and equipment, possess or be able to obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications and/or manufacturer certifications, and provide their own mechanic hand tools.

A valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of hire, is required. Candidates must also successfully complete a medical physical, police background investigation, fingerprinting, credit check, and employment verification. Applicants for positions requiring a CDL must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse database.

About This Role

The role requires operating diverse shop machinery, precision instruments, and specialized tools including dynamo meters, valve refacing equipment, micrometers, lathes, and alignment gauges.
