Responsibilities

- Assist the foreman in planning the sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers.
- Cut pipe using a pipe cutter, pipe saw, band saw, and pipe cutting machine.
- Thread pipe using a threading machine.
- Operate Victaulic roll grooving and cut groove operations safely.
- Mount pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings to hold pipe.
- Assemble and install a variety of metal or non‑metal pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded, wrapped, soldering, brazen, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools.
- Secure pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools.
- Conduct safe and professional testing of piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure and observing gauges.
- Observe and comply with all safety and project rules and all company policies and procedures.
- Work around heavy machinery, including hydraulic and lattice cranes, and rig and signal loads as required.
- Set and align process equipment such as pumps and blowers.
- Conduct field layout of the piping system and calculate offsets, miters, and fittings as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Always attentive to detail and alert to ensure safety.
- Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co‑workers.
- Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines.
- Ability to read drawings including pipe shop drawings, mechanical drawings, and P&’s.
- Excellent physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy objects.
- Good communication skills.
This role requires significant physical exertion, including navigating active construction areas with uneven terrain, temporary and permanent stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and personnel hoists. Constant standing, walking, and performing repetitive physical tasks are required daily. The employee must frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing over 50 pounds with assistance or team‑lifting techniques.
This position requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching (above and below shoulder level). The employee must possess sufficient physical dexterity and balance to work safely at various heights and in confined spaces. Visual acuity, including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, is essential for tasks such as reading instructions, operating equipment, and ensuring safety.
Adequate hearing is required to understand instructions and warnings in a noisy environment.
The work environment involves regular outdoor work that may expose the employee to varying and potentially extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow. The environment frequently involves exposure to moving mechanical equipment, high noise levels, dust, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, and potential electrical hazards. Work regularly occurs at heights and in confined spaces. The employee must be able to work safely around heavy equipment and construction traffic.
The noise level is typically loud, requiring consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, and adherence to all Clark Construction safety policies, procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Due to the nature of the projects, deadlines, and client requirements, the role frequently requires working more than 40 hours per week.
