Overview
We are seeking a Commercial or Industrial Electronic Security Technician to join our federal team based in Norfolk, VA. Johnson Controls Federal Systems (JCFS) supports critical federal facilities and modernizes U.S. military and Department of Defense installations.
Location & CompensationLocation:
Norfolk, VA.
Pay range: $25.00 - $38.00 per hour, negotiable based on experience.
Shift: Primarily day shift, flexible start time 7:00-8:00 am to 4:00-5:00 pm, Monday–Friday.
BenefitsEligible for benefits on first day of employment. Vacation: 3 weeks paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays and 10 standard holidays per calendar year (6.5 weeks total).
Responsibilities- Conduct installation work with some maintenance and service of commercial Electronic Security Systems (ESS) including access controls, intrusion detection, camera systems, and systems such as Genetec, Software House C‑cure 9000, Lenel, DMP, Bosch, Exacqvision, MDI and American Dynamics.
- Install security devices and infrastructure in accordance with installation plan, national electrical code, company and customer guidelines.
- Assist with security system programming and setup when required.
- Conduct testing to ensure proper operation of equipment after installation or repairs.
- Test system to the signal‑receiving center to establish service.
- Coordinate installations with police/fire departments and handle necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
- Help prepare estimates as directed by supervisor.
- Conduct End‑User training.
- Work safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, protect property and clean up installation debris.
- Perform other duties as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience installing, inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing commercial and/or industrial integrated/electronic security systems for low‑voltage intrusion, access control, CCTV and digital recording systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to establish cooperative working relationships.
- Proficient at using hand and power tools to mount and secure equipment.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance.
- Proficiency working with Software House C‑cure 9000, Genetec, and/or Lenel.
- Experience with commercial and/or industrial camera systems, including Bosch, MDI and/or American Dynamics.
- Certification in Software House C‑cure 9000, Lenel, and/or Genetec.
