Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Position:
Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Pay rate: $25.00/hr – $35.00/hr (based on experience & certifications)

Location:

Dinwiddie, VA Field Service Center (regional travel within VA required)

Responsibilities
  • Inspect and lubricate heavy construction equipment in shop and at job sites.
  • Repair and troubleshoot heavy trucks & construction equipment (loaders, dozers, cranes, backhoes, etc.), including removal of defective parts and installation of new or rebuilt parts.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electrical systems.
  • Repair hydraulic systems.
  • Assist in dismantling and/or reassembling cranes.
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks and inspections.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL B preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as heavy equipment mechanic in construction.
  • Ability to test repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs from ground to waist level.
  • Continuous standing and walking during shift.
  • Ability to perform fine manipulation tasks with both hands; acceptable corrected vision and hearing.
  • Must be able to climb ladders/steps on equipment.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, crawl.
  • Must work in dirty, greasy, noisy, cold, hot, humid conditions.
