Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Controls Technician / Controls Specialist to support a highly secure, mission‑critical facility. This individual will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical distribution and control systems within a Central Utility Plant environment. The role focuses on ensuring reliable power and utility operations across a large campus, responding to emergencies, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting critical infrastructure systems.

The ideal candidate has strong industrial electrical experience, understands PLC‑driven systems, thrives in a shift‑based environment, and values safety, precision, and teamwork in a high‑visibility operation.

Day-to-Day:

• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot Central Utility Plant (CUP) electrical and control systems
• Operate and maintain SCADA‑controlled building and utility systems
• Perform preventative maintenance on power panels, switch gear, and electrical rooms
• Troubleshoot and repair industrial control systems, motors, and generators
• Safely maintain low-, medium-, and high‑voltage electrical systems (up to and above 15kV)
• Respond to emergency situations and power outages across a 500‑acre campus
• Support Plant Stationary Engineers during outages and system events
• Perform general electrical work including lighting, wiring, and fixture replacement
• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
• Maintain accurate logs, reports, and compliance documentation
• Ensure safety, code compliance, and operational reliability at all times

Must‑Haves:

• 5+ years of electrical controls experience in commercial or industrial environments
• Journeyman Electrician License (preferably in VA). DC or MD acceptable
• Experience working with high- and medium‑voltage switch gear (up to 13kV)
• Strong understanding of PLC operation (no programming required)
• Experience operating and maintaining SCADA systems
• Hands‑on experience with MCCs, VFDs, AHUs, generators, and motors
• Knowledge of NEC / NFPA 70E and Arc Flash safety
• Willingness to work onsite and cover any assigned shift
• Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance (not required on day one; escort provided during processing)
