HVAC Field Service Technician II

This position may require travel up to 100%. Travel costs (flight, hotel, and car rental) are covered by the company. Per diem is provided for food.

$40 – $48 per hour.

Field Service Technicians support the startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of mission‑critical cooling systems used in hyperscale data centers. This is a hands‑on technical role where technicians perform troubleshooting tasks with minimal supervision while supporting senior technicians during complex startup activities.

• Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAH)
• In-Row Heat Exchangers (IRHX)
• Data Center Air Handling Units (DAHU)

• Executing pre-functional equipment checks.
• Assisting with functional commissioning tests.
• Verifying equipment installation and piping connections.
• Identifying system performance issues.

• Hydronic cooling systems
• Chilled water systems
• Glycol cooling loops
• Air handling equipment
• Pumps and valves

• 120V and 480V electrical systems
• VFD operation
• Sensors and instrumentation

• Participating in daily safety meetings.
• Coordinating with startup leads and senior technicians.
• Supporting commissioning activities.
• Maintaining organized documentation and equipment records.
• Effective communication primarily using Microsoft Teams.

• Startup checklists
• Equipment inspection reports
• Field troubleshooting notes
• End of Day Reports
• Monthly Expense Reports (within 7 days of receipt)
• All safety documentation, including JHA, JSA, and PTP

• Enjoy diagnosing mechanical and electrical system issues.
• Take pride in figuring out why equipment is not operating correctly.
• Work well in fast‑paced project environments.
• Communicate clearly with team members.
• Continue developing their troubleshooting skills.

• 3–7 years of experience working with HVAC, mechanical systems, or industrial equipment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability.
• Experience working with hydronic systems preferred.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and piping diagrams.
• Basic electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Familiarity with electrical schematics and control systems.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Reliable transportation required for local travel when applicable.
• Willing to fly to work regions.

• Ability to work in active construction environments.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Ability to work extended hours during critical startup periods.

Technician Apprentice (Level
0) → Startup Technician (Level
1) → Field Service Technician (Level
2) → Senior Field Service Technician (Level
3). Field Service Technicians who demonstrate strong troubleshooting ability, leadership potential, and system knowledge may advance to Senior Field Service Technician.
