Mobile Diesel Technician II – Job Overview
Hourly base pay: $26.73 – $40.10 per hour. Additional compensation may include commission and incentive programs.
New Hire Bonus: $2,500 (50% after 30 days, 50% after 180 days).
Flexible work option: remote positions available, but candidates must reside in the specified city, state, or region. 100% of the time requires travel.

- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Execute minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engine (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair vehicle systems using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Conduct road tests to verify repair effectiveness and vehicle performance.
- Identify problems and generate alternative solutions using sound judgment.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company‑issued service trucks, including periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicles; perform pre‑trip and post‑trip safety inspections.
- Communicate effectively with clients and customers to assess needs and resolve issues.
- Prioritize concurrent tasks and schedule work independently to maintain productivity and meet standard repair times.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lathes, and jacks.
- Document work in accordance with company standards, including uploading pictures, parts used, and findings on repair orders using the iOS device and proprietary TRAIT application.
- Complete DOT and other documentation forms accurately and promptly.
- Operate within organizational safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Maintain a high level of productivity and adhere to most standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed for repairs.
- Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for repair estimates and purchase order numbers.
- High School Diploma or GED; alternatively, a related degree or certification plus at least five years of experience.
- Must possess and supply a set of hand tools required for job duties.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months of hire.
- Complete a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical; a current DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may substitute for a physical.
- Be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority regulations.
- Hold a valid state driver’s license; maintain a Driver Qualification File.

- Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for extended periods; perform moderately heavy labor and repetitive tasks.
- Communicate information succinctly and organize messages clearly; engage in effective two‑way communication.
- Determine appropriate tools and equipment needed for tasks.
- Accurately judge distances between objects.
- Use logic and reasoning to identify strengths, weaknesses, and alternative solutions.
