Role Summary
Laurel Ridge Community College is looking for a motivated and reliable Trades Technician who enjoys hands‑on work and takes pride in doing the job right. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a willingness to work on a variety of tasks. In this role, candidates will work directly with tools, equipment, and materials to support installation, maintenance, and repair projects across a variety of trade disciplines.
Responsibilities- Support installation, maintenance, and repair projects across multiple trade disciplines.
- Operate tools, equipment, and materials to complete assigned tasks.
- Work independently when needed or as part of a team.
- Demonstrate attention to detail, safety awareness, and problem‑solving skills.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Qualifications- Demonstrated maintenance experience.
- Ability to lift heavy objects; driver’s license.
- Experience using landscaping equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, etc.
- Experience operating equipment such as bobcats, snow plows, tractors, etc.; apprenticeship, certification or license in a dedicated trade such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC.
- Experience in a variety of trades.
- Demonstrated experience leading and completing a variety of projects.
- Experience with small engine/mechanical repair.
Pay range: $52,987.00 – $71,532.00. Salary commensurate with competencies and experience. Classified staff are eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies.
Work ScheduleMonday‑Friday 9‑5; in extreme weather or emergency situations hours outside of this range may be required.

Required TravelTravel as required by duties of the position, including to sites, campuses, and training. Ability to cover assignments throughout the college service region is required.
