Facilities Technician II.

Classification: E4.

Salary: $62,500 annually (higher rate for exceptional experience or certifications may be considered).

This position oversees the day‑to‑day operation, maintenance and optimization of the County’s new Public Safety Building and the Hudgins Court Building. The Facilities Technician II serves as the primary facilities professional for these facilities, supporting mechanical, HVAC, electrical, electronic, security and automated building systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in the construction, commissioning and occupancy phases of the Public Safety Building to develop expertise in all major building systems.
  • Serve as the primary facilities professional responsible for the Public Safety Building, the Public Safety Building Auxiliary Building and the Hudgins Court Building.
  • Recommend capital improvements and operational efficiencies that improve facility performance.
  • Monitor, maintain, troubleshoot and repair commercial HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and building automation systems.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and extend asset life.
  • Monitor security gates, emergency generators, backup power systems, fire alarm systems, electronic access control and security camera systems.
  • Complete and manage maintenance work orders and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Coordinate warranty work, service contracts, vendors and outside contractors.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, equipment manuals, schematics and technical documentation.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance deficiencies and safety concerns.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance issues and support emergency operations when necessary.
  • Provide technical maintenance support to other County facilities as operational needs require.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school or associate degree in HVAC, electrical technology, industrial maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in commercial facilities maintenance, building systems or industrial maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience with commercial HVAC systems and mechanical equipment.
  • Technical aptitude to understand and troubleshoot electrical, electronic and automated building systems.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience with access control, security, fire alarm and emergency power systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Journeyman or Master HVAC license preferred.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Experience in municipal, public‑sector, healthcare, educational or public safety facilities.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of commercial electrical systems and electronic building controls.
  • Ability to diagnose complex facility issues independently.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams and technical specifications.
  • Strong organizational, project management and vendor coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments while supporting critical public safety operations and judicial administration.
