Outdoors - Physical requirements: This is operative work requiring the exertion of up to and exceeding 50 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Certification: Valid Driver’s License; ability to obtain Flagger Certification within 60 days of employment;
Class B CDL License preferred
To assist with the installation and maintenance of water and sewer lines, along with water meters.
Essential Job FunctionsAn employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of water meters, along with water and sewer lines by implementing instructions of Manager safely, correctly, and efficiently to include, but not be limited to: digging trenches, fitting pipes and valves, and using acceptable traffic control techniques
- Maintenance of fire hydrants including painting, greasing, valve operation, and mowing around hydrant
- Maintenance of water valves including exercising
- Obtain water meter readings by locating, reading, and accurately recording meter readings, as directed by Operations Manager
- Assist in the maintenance of County property as may be required, to include, but not be limited to snow removal both by hand and with equipment
- Ability to be courteous and helpful to customers and relaying appropriate and pertinent information, as required
- Abide by VOSH and OSHA safety requirements
- Perform related tasks as required
- Water and sewer processes
- Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
- Actively looking for ways to help people
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Mathematical ability
- Bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs
