Everforth ECS is seeking an IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems) Alarm Technician to work onsite in our Dulles, VA office. This is a critical position that works on our US Postal Service security and alarm monitoring team. This team 24/7 continuous monitoring and emergency dispatch services for USPS hubs, outlets, offices and distribution centers. This role provides centrally managed technical support in the areas of alarm panel programming, diagnostic and service support, customer account support and support to contract field technicians.

Candidates must be able to pass a USPIS Moderate Background Investigation (MBI) and obtain a USPS Public Trust (elevated) clearance. This requires US Citizenship and the ability to pass a stringent background check.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Provide centrally managed technical support in the areas of alarm panel programming, diagnostic and service support.
  • Provide customer account support.
  • Provide support to contract field technicians.
  • Run reports from databases (RAMIV Preferred), program alarm panels, and operate alarm monitoring software.
  • Create reports, documents, and correspondence using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Possess a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma.
  • Be a citizen of the United States of America.
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Be able to attain and maintain a USPIS Moderate Background Investigation (MBI) Clearance.
  • Be able to sit for an extended period of time while monitoring multiple computer monitors.
  • Be able to maintain professionalism under highly stressful situations.
  • Be able to read and comprehend the English language; including printed regulations, written instructions, training material, etc.
  • Be able to write reports, and document events in a concise and accurate manner. This includes the ability to proofread all documentation for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Be able to speak the English language clearly and fluently.
  • Be able to provide quality customer service while communicating with internal and external parties.
  • Be able to hear ordinary telephone and radio conversations with either ear.
  • Must possess strong computer and data entry skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Be able to type a minimum of 45 words per minute (WPM).
  • Be able to manage and prioritize tasks from multiple simultaneous sources (radio, telephone, alarm monitoring software, etc.).
Other Prerequisites
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of favorable work experience in the alarm monitoring, installation and/or service industry.
  • Must possess strong communication skills and be able to communicate complex information to technical as well as non-technical personnel.
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal to no supervision.
Desired

Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience with alarm monitoring and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software desired.
  • Basic Network Administration abilities.
  • Experience with Master Mind MAS alarm systems and Remote Programming Software (RPS).
  • Experience servicing, installing, maintaining and troubleshooting analog and digital alarm systems.

This role is a full time, hourly position so comes with full benefits and is available for overtime.
