Job Description To maintain all heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration system and all associated equipment, to its maximum capability at journeyman level. To operate energy management control system in an efficient manner.
This position is designated essential personnel for emergency closings. The holder of this position is also subject serving on a schedule to be called back to work during non-work hours. In such an event, this position is required to respond to after-hours calls.
Knowledge, skills and abilities- Extensive working knowledge of heating, ventilating, PTAC, geothermal, and air conditioning operations.
- Must be able to repair and perform maintenance on institutional type equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems with P-tech, heating, air conditioning, geothermal, and ventilation equipment.
- Understanding of HVAC equipment and tools.
- Valid Virginia Driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- Virginia Journeyman mechanical license.
- Successful completion of a refrigerant transition and recovery course and tests.
- Certified for Type Universal.

Level and type of experience Extensive heating, ventilating and air conditioning, boiler equipment repair and maintenance.
Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)- High school diploma or equivalent.
- In-person reporting to campus.
- Not eligible for telework.
- Facilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings.
