Cranemasters is seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Shop to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical failures, performing repairs and rebuilds, and delivering routine preventive maintenance on a wide range of heavy equipment. This position also requires participation in 24/7 emergency response operations
, providing critical field repairs when equipment failures occur.

Job Title:Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Shop
Schedule:
Available to work all shifts Starting Compensation Range: varies based on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures using advanced mechanical knowledge and standard procedures
- Perform complex repairs, rebuilds, and modifications on heavy equipment including cranes, dozers, excavators, trucks, and diesel engines
- Respond to emergency service calls, including nights/weekends/holidays
- Accurately complete all required documentation (work orders, time sheets, inspection reports, etc.)
- Maintain a safe, clean work environment
- Follow all safety policies and support team training efforts
- High school diploma/GED; technical training preferred
- 5+ years experience with heavy equipment repair
- ASE certifications and DOT/FMCSA knowledge (preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain 24/7 availability
- Lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Work in shop and field environments in all weather conditions
- Stand, walk, bend, and work extended hours as needed

- Minimum of five years demonstrated maintenance experience with heavy equipment and/or track/trailers/cranes, etc.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in at least two other technical areas (Including but not limited to: hydraulics, electronics, small engines, air-conditioning, and other related mechanical areas).
- Education to include:
High School Diploma/GED AND trade school/or dealership/factory service training in diesel mechanical repair/maintenance that would be equivalent to an associate’s degree. - Drive for achieving results and ability to convey a sense of urgency when appropriate.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Able to read, write and speak English
- Constant bending / twisting / stooping / walking / talking / sitting / standing / kneeling / climbing / bending / carrying materials/parts
- May work in a variety weather conditions.
- Working extended hours.
- Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Valid Driver’s License with good driving record
- Training and experience equivalent to two years of technical/vocational school and five years of on-hands repair and maintenance of heavy equipment
- Professional certifications related to maintenance and repair of heavy equipment
- Other certifications as may be necessary for accomplishment of assigned responsibilities.
