Job Summary

Design, install, repair and trouble-shoot landscape irrigation system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Repair or replace irrigation valves, controllers, heads and related equipment.
• Design and install new irrigation systems.
• Assist in reviewing construction plans and installation of new irrigation systems installed during construction projects.
• Responds to on-call emergencies before/during/after normal hours of operation. This includes but not limited to:
  • Fires, electrical outages, floods, icy conditions and any other type of campus emergency.
• Operate computerized central control system for campus irrigation.
• Operate trencher, Bobcat and backhoe.
• Knowledge of Auto Cad computer aided design.
• Track materials and hours used in irrigation projects.
• Knowledge of pump maintenance and installation.
• Drive a UTA owned vehicle.
• Performs other duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• Three (3) years of experience performing irrigation maintenance and installation or the equivalent experience.
• This position requires a Texas class “C” operator’s driver’s license and three (3) years of acceptable driving history.

Preferred Qualifications

• Accuracy in all phases of work performed.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of irrigation systems, controllers, valves, heads, pipe sizing and repair.
• Knowledge of irrigation programming, water usage and rain and freeze sensors.
