Eastern Shore Community College is a member of the Virginia Community College System. The College serves the residents of Accomack County and Northampton County as a two‑year institution of higher learning, operating under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Eastern Shore Community College Board. The college is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the two counties and the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation.

This position is only open to current ESCC students.

The position provides support in the Science department’s work on creating, deploying and measuring the effectiveness of a public health campaign designed to address issues around failing septic systems on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. This work is part of a larger team coordinated by the UVA Environmental Institute. Students will have the opportunity to meet other team members both on and off the Eastern Shore.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

• Basic computer experience
• Reliably able to meet for scheduled work sessions either in‑person or remotely
• Must have completed at least Bio 101, 141 or 150
• Able to perform academic research online, including finding and understanding primary sources
• Able to write proficiently
