Relief Counselor

This position's exemption status varies.

Monitor a caseload of juvenile offenders who have been court ordered to comply with the Outreach Detention Program.

Exercise independent judgment and initiative in the day‑to‑day monitoring of the assigned caseload.

Demonstrate thorough familiarity with agency functions and basic knowledge of community resources.

Maintain documentation of all contacts with clients and other professionals involved.

Receive general supervision and guidance from the Outreach Detention Coordinator.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months to one year related experience and/or training in human development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Possess all requirements as prescribed by State regulations (CPR, first aid, restraint, and substance abuse certification), a valid VA state driver’s license, and a clear criminal background investigation (State Police, CPS, FBI fingerprint).

Weekend and holiday work is required.
