Job DutiesA satisfying and rewarding employment opportunity awaits you at the Virginia Department of Health Professions. The Department’s mission is to ensure safe and competent patient care by licensing health professionals, enforcing standards of practice, and providing information to health care practitioners and the public. This position provides licensing support for the section within the Board of Pharmacy responsible for licensing applicants for various facilities.
The applicant will independently evaluate applications, documentation, and compliant inspection reports. The applicant will maintain a high level of customer service, answering all phone calls and emails related to all licensing under the Board of Pharmacy, and will serve as backup administrative specialist for other facilities when needed.
- Considerable experience working in administrative services, knowledge of office systems, and working with the public in a fast‑paced environment.
- Knowledge of licensing principles and practices within a regulatory office environment.
- Experience working with laws and regulations pertaining to licensure.
- Ability to apply knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to licensure in response to a customer inquiry via verbal or written correspondence.
- Ability to problem‑solve and research relevant documentation to ensure quality customer service.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively and tactfully both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to both enter and analyze data as well as prepare and manage spreadsheets to track tasks and deadlines.
- Experience with automated and hard‑copy file maintenance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Previous or current experience as a licensing specialist or credentialing specialist for a regulated profession/entity in state or federal government is preferred.
- Previous or current experience working with licensure database systems as a primary job duty is preferred.
