AWS Tech Lead

About the Opportunity

6‑month contracting role with potential extension, 100% remote, 5 Tech Lead positions.

• Candidates must meet all client requirements for remote access and live near a Capital One hub (Chicago, Boston, NYC, Virginia, Texas, etc.).
• Previous leadership experience is required.
• Experience in the financial/fintech sector or prior Capital One employment is preferred.
• Current employment as an on‑prem/Big Data or Hadoop developer will not be considered.
• Must be actively working in the AWS environment with Airflow, Databricks, Snowflake, and PySpark.

• Lead separate data engineering teams.
• Deliver team work on time and conduct sprint ceremonies.
• Problem solve with senior managers, pivot and adapt quickly to changing requirements.

• AWS services (EMR/Glue, S3, Lambda, Cloud Watch), Python/Java, Spark, Databricks, SQL, Bash.
• Data warehousing experience with Snowflake.
• API development.
• Agile engineering practices and Jira usage.

• Kafka, Airflow, open table formats (Delta, Hudi, Iceberg), Splunk, New Relic, Git Hub, Jenkins.
• Prior Capital One experience is highly preferred.

• Must be located in Capital One core locations:
  Chicago, McLean, Richmond, Plano.

This role involves migration of Discover’s historical credit card data into Capital One’s internal systems as part of the acquisition. The work is critical to ensure completeness, accuracy and usability across platforms, supporting downstream analytics, compliance and operational continuity.
