Software Engineer (Level 1 – Subject Matter Expert)

Location: Dulles, VA

Salary: Up to $260,000 per year

Hours:

9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Security Clearance: Requires Top Secret (TS/SCI) with polygraph.

• Involved in planning of system and development deployment, and responsible for meeting software compliance standards.
• Maintain and add new capabilities to the core Service Now platform to enhance functionality for tenants.
• Develop, test, and deploy updates to Service Now based on customer requirements.
• Customize and configure Service Now applications and facilitate rollout of new applications and modules; configure Application User Interface and workflow.
• Collaborate effectively with Service Now System Engineers and developers to develop solutions and handle general updates and configuration changes/requests.
• Identify system deficiencies and recommend solutions.
• Maintain and continuous improvements of processes, standards, policies, working methods and tools.
• Ensure appropriate tools and processes are in place for reliable development/production environments.
• Ensure tool configuration consistency across Development, Testing, Integration, and Production environments.
• Participate in ongoing production support and end‑user support.
• Document testing and maintenance of system corrections.
• Research, understand, and develop using new technologies and standards as needed.
• Research, design, develop and/or modify enterprise‑wide systems and/or applications software.
• Evaluate interface between hardware and software, operational requirements, and characteristics of overall system.

• 16+ years relevant experience with Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees.
• Minimum of five years, hands‑on developing Service Now products.
• Strong understanding of Service Now Development Platform (ITSM, ITOM, SPM, HR Module, CSM, Asset Management, Change Management, etc.).
• Proven success developing Service Now products using JavaScript and other coding applications.
• Database Administration experience (Oracle or MySQL).
• Ability to efficiently estimate work effort requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, work independently and in a team.
• Adaptability to constantly changing environment.
• Self‑motivated, self‑driven, with initiative and creativity.
• Ability to identify issues and implement corrective actions.
• Goal to achieve Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification while on task.

• Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA).
• Experience with IT project management and familiarity with Scrum, Lean, Agile and Dev Ops.
• Experience with Java, Ruby, Dev Ops and Dev Sec Ops .
