Senior Lead Software Engineer

Overview

Senior Lead Software Engineer at Capital One. You’ll be part of a large group of makers and problem solvers who work to meet real customer needs in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will work on the forefront of transforming Capital One’s technology landscape.

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with experience in distributed microservices and full‑stack systems to create solutions that meet regulatory requirements for the company.
• Stay current with technology trends, experiment with new technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, mentor other engineers, and, when needed, contribute code or evaluate code.
• Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive strong experiences for customers.
• Utilize programming languages and technologies such as JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, Type Script, SQL, Python, Go, Open Source RDBMS and No
  
  SQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services.

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (internship experience does not apply)
• At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)

• Master’s Degree
• 9+ years of experience in at least one of the following:
  JavaScript, Java, Type Script, SQL, Python, or Go
• 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
• 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
• 1+ years of people management experience
• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
• Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity beyond basic code completion

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed by location. Salaries reflect the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of posting and are subject to change. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on hours worked. This role is eligible for performance-based incentives that may include cash bonuses and long-term incentives. Locations and salary ranges (example):
Chicago, IL: 209,000 – 238,500;
McLean, VA: 229,900 – 262,400;
Richmond, VA: 209,000 – 238,500. Other locations will follow the pay range for that location. The actual offer will be reflected in the offer letter.
