General Statement of DutiesThe head coach demonstrates the capacity to manage every aspect of the sports program listed above, from coordinating high-level practice sessions to providing exceptional leadership and a meaningful coaching experience for student-athletes throughout the season and into regional and state competitions. They bring a proven ability to recruit and organize an effective assistant coaching staff, oversee the team's fundraising initiatives, and uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship and teamwork for all students.
EssentialDuties
- Organizes and oversees all aspects of the athletic program.
- Prepares student-athletes physically and mentally for interscholastic competition through structured practices, instruction in fundamental skills, and thorough knowledge of rules.
- Reviews eligibility forms and submits required documentation to the Student Activities Director.
- Ensures all physical and academic requirements are met for each player and provides the necessary information to the Student Activities Director to establish the VHSL eligibility list.
- Supervises the cleaning, storage, and proper maintenance of all equipment.
- Requests supplies, uniforms, and necessary equipment through the Student Activities Director.
- Promotes positive school-community relations by keeping families and the community informed about and engaged with the athletic program.
- Conducts pre-season meetings with parents and guardians.
- Prepares daily practice plans and leads practice sessions.
- Attends all required VHSL clinics.
- Adheres to county financial policies regarding the collection and receipting of funds.
- Previous coaching experience, knowledge of the sport, and current understanding of coaching techniques and strategies.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes.
- Coaches with prior college experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated ability to support management program through previous experience as a coach or player.
This vacancy is for the 2026-27 school year.
Minimum Stipend Amount*: $4,029.00 Annual /Season
* The stipend amount listed in this posting is based on the adopted financial plan. The final stipend amount will be determined once the school year financial plan is approved and adopted in Spring 2026.
