Job Summary
Organize tractor trailers within the required space and ensure truck and trailers are ready for unloading, loading and transport.

Functionin the Job
Medium/Heavy work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Job Function- Able to drive and operate the yard truck in a variety of conditions and spaces—work within precise limits and standards of accuracy.
- Operates gasoline or diesel-powered yard jockey to bring trailers to the bays to be loaded/unloaded.
- Reposition tractor/trailers on the yard to go inside the warehouse.
- Responsible for hooking up the brake air line to the trailer.
- Move and spot trailers for shipping and receiving constantly throughout assigned shift.
- Maintaining radio contact with team to receive delivery or pick up instructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery or pick ups.
- Works and coordinates with multiple areas of warehouse, and coworkers to complete tasks.
- Multi-tasking is essential as multiple requests at once.
- Maintain compliance with all safety requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Performs safety checks to secure trailer and ensure equipment is maintained and operating properly.
- Walk the yard to identify and document vehicle defects.
- Communicate equipment damage immediately.
- Safety sensitive for his/her own safety and/or of others safety.
- Attend scheduled safety, team meetings and training sessions.
- High level driving skill that requires high level of concentration.
- Enthusiastic team player with a motivating positive attitude—committed to a workplace of culture and respect.
- Dependable and consistent attendance/punctuality.
- Clock in and out utilizing timekeeping system, time clocks and/or kiosk.
- Special projects as specified by management.
- Must be able to stand, sit and/or walk for long periods of time, climb stairs and lift to 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs on occasion.
- Perform heavy pushing/pulling and climb up/down to enter/exit the yard truck.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including but not limited to nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, as well as short notice (all dependent on business needs).
- Must be able to work in outdoor weather (rain, sleet, heat, snow etc) and work in an environment with exposure to loud machinery when necessary.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to converse, read and write.
- Operating a truck safely according to MVR standards.
- Preferred candidates will have heavy capacity fork truck experience, material handling experience, and experience working with steel.
