Position Summary Cavalier Produce is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Delivery Driver to safely transport and deliver products to customers on assigned routes. This position plays a critical role in ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining product quality, and providing exceptional customer service. The Delivery Driver is responsible for loading and unloading products, completing required documentation, collecting payments on C.O.D. accounts when applicable, and assisting with warehouse operations as needed.
The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, strong attention to detail, safe driving practices, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Report to work on time and prepared to begin duties, arriving at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled shift start time.
Safely operate company vehicles and complete assigned delivery routes in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable traffic laws.
Load delivery vehicles accurately and efficiently and unload customer orders at designated delivery locations.
Read, pick, pack, and verify customer orders against pick tickets and invoices to ensure accuracy.
Deliver products in a timely manner while maintaining product integrity and quality.
Provide outstanding customer service and represent Cavalier Produce in a professional, courteous, and positive manner.
Collect payments from C.O.D. customers and accurately process all related paperwork and deposits.
Report all returned products, credits, shortages, damages, and delivery discrepancies upon returning to the warehouse.
Communicate customer concerns, service issues, and operational challenges to management promptly to support timely resolution.
Maintain delivery vehicles in a clean, safe, and operational condition and immediately report maintenance needs or safety concerns.
Work collaboratively with transportation, warehouse, sales, accounting, and management teams to support operational excellence.
Participate in required training programs, safety meetings, and company initiatives.
Perform warehouse duties and other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications Minimum of one (1) year of delivery driving experience operating a box truck or larger vehicle.
Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required for certain vehicle classifications.
Knowledge of safe driving practices and Department of Transportation regulations, where applicable.
Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
Ability to work independently while managing time effectively and meeting delivery schedules.
Forklift certification preferred; must operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely and only when authorized and certified.
Flexibility to work varying schedules, including weekends, as business needs require.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment Ability to sit and drive for extended periods, up to four (4) hours at a time.
Frequently enter and exit delivery vehicles throughout the workday.
Regularly lift, carry, push, and maneuver products weighing up to 50 pounds.
Frequently bend, twist, stretch, reach overhead, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
Work routinely in refrigerated environments, coolers, and temperature-controlled delivery vehicles.
Handle food products that may contain common allergens, including shellfish, dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, and other food allergens.
Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment and perform physical warehouse tasks as needed.
Vehicle Safety Camera Compliance Cavalier Produce delivery vehicles are equipped with interior-facing safety cameras to promote driver safety, protect employees and company assets, assist with accident investigations, verify delivery events, resolve customer concerns, and protect drivers from false claims. These cameras are intended for legitimate business and safety purposes, not unnecessary employee surveillance.
Driver Responsibilities Maintain an unobstructed, operational interior-facing safety camera while operating a company vehicle.
Do not cover, obstruct, disconnect, disable, tamper with, or otherwise interfere with the camera or its recordings.
Immediately report any camera malfunction or damage to the Transportation Manager.
Safely correct any accidental obstruction as soon as practical and notify management.
Intentional interference with the vehicle safety camera system is considered serious misconduct and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Compliance with the Cavalier Produce Interior Vehicle Camera Policy is a condition of employment.
