We're helping our client, a major food service distributor serving the Metro DC area, find experienced local CDL A delivery drivers in Manassas, VA. This is a direct hire opportunity paying $34/hr during training and up to $110,000/year after.
This role is physically demanding — expect 700-900 cases per load, up to 80 lbs per case, 10-15 stops per day.
Experienced food service drivers may qualify for a retention bonus of up to $10,000.
Pay
- $34.00/hr during 3-4 weeks of training
- After training: component pay (stops + miles + cases)
- Daily minimum: $320/day
- Up to $110,000/year average
- Pay is bi-weekly
- Retention bonus: $5,000to $10,000 for drivers with relevant years of food service experience, paid out during the first year!
Schedule
- Monday through Saturday availability required
- 5-6 days per week, Sunday always off
- Start times vary between 10:00 PM and 4:30 AM — full flexibility required
- Routes scheduled for 10.5 hours, up to 14 hours when needed
- Up to 70 hours per week
What You'll Be Doing
- Delivering food service orders to 10-15 stops per day across Metro DC and within a 2-hour radius of Manassas, VA
- Sorting customer orders in the trailer and loading onto a 2-wheeled hand cart or pallet jack at each stop, then rolled into their facility
- Handling product ranging from 20 to 80+ lbs, with trailers carrying 700-900 cases
What You Need
- Valid CDL A
- 6+ months of recent, relevant, and verifiable CDL A driving experience
- Valid DOT med card
- Manual transmission experience preferred
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English
- Food delivery or physically demanding delivery experience preferred
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (no major traffic violations or preventable accidents in the last 3 years)
- Must meet all DOT and FMCSA requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old

- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday (OFF Wednesday and Saturday)

Route Start Times:
Weekdays-4:15, Sunday-5:00/6:00 am
Starting Pay: $52,000-$54,000
Full Time: 40+ hours a week
Job Description
Responsible for the safe operation of company equipment and timely, courteous delivery of product to our customers.
Essential Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
- Safely and professionally operate a commercial motor vehicle
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Maintain an acceptable driving record based on established company guidelines
- Maintain a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate as required by law
- Be able to lift 25 lbs. to 50 lbs. on a continual basis and up to 170 lbs.
- Must be able to pass a pre-hire and random drug test
- Punctuality and regular attendance
- Use of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) such as an electric pallet jack, hand truck, U-boat and/or hydraulic trailer lift gate
- Maneuver vehicle and equipment in congested areas with limited space and potential obstacles
- Unload and deliver products to customers utilizing various methodologies that may include manual conveyors, carts, or pallets in multi-temperature environments
- Reach above and below shoulder level, climb, crouch, stoop, push, pull and work in confined and uneven spaces
- Provide exceptional customer service to consumers and store personnel
Additional Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
- Accurate and timely completion of paperwork, included but not limited to, checking in and out inventory on trucks, sales invoices, accounting, reconciling total cash and sales with invoices, and properly documenting and handling damaged products.
- Collect company assets to include payments, carts, pallets, returned products, etc.
