The Role

We're seeking a Receiving and Inventory Clerk who is reliable, detail‑oriented, and physically capable for this hands‑on warehouse position. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing all incoming shipments, verifying deliveries, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring proper storage of materials. You'll work closely with purchasing, production, and shipping teams to keep our operations running smoothly. This position requires someone who can handle heavy loads, operate forklifts safely, and maintain organized storage systems.

Key Responsibilities Shipping and Receiving Operations
  • Receive and verify all incoming truck shipments and small package deliveries against carrier delivery receipts and packing lists.
  • Count pallets, handling units, and items per pallet; inspect all shipments for damage or discrepancies.
  • Document shortages, damage, or discrepancies on delivery receipts and obtain exception numbers from carriers.
  • Photograph damaged shipments in the presence of delivery drivers; coordinate with Purchasing on damaged shipment refusals.
  • Verify package contents against packing lists and purchase orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.
Inventory Management and Data Entry
  • Print and apply receiving labels without obscuring package information.
  • Enter receipt quantities, carrier information, and freight costs into ERP software (Global Shop Solutions).
  • Process receiving reports, attaching required documentation (packing lists, delivery receipts, certifications), and note any discrepancies.
  • Conduct cycle counts when requested to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Tag items to sales orders, jobs, or stock locations and deliver to appropriate departments.
  • Count parts and inventory; adjust inventory records as required to maintain accuracy.
Warehouse Organization and Material Handling
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and competently.
  • Manage and organize racks, shelving, drawers, and storage areas for manufactured and wholesale products.
  • Ensure proper rotation of stock (old stock in prime picking locations) for both manufactured products and resale items.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and aisles; participate in general housekeeping.
  • Store materials properly using appropriate carts, storage devices, and material handling techniques.
  • Assist with walk‑in customers picking up orders.
Safety and Compliance
  • Follow all safety rules and precautions at all times.
  • Ensure proper storage of materials and safe stacking practices.
  • Immediately report any accidents or safety concerns to supervisor.
  • Maintain production output standards while prioritizing safe work practices.
Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1--3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations preferred.
  • Forklift certification required or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Demonstrated mathematical aptitude and competency to perform inventory calculations.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate records.
