JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing administrative support to the traffic function of the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for all aspects of logging orders, routing, shipping, and tracking of outbound orders.
- Obtain freight charges for all shipments shipped and prepare paperwork (separate bills of ladings, delivery receipts, and stamp dates) for the billing department.
- Determine shipping method for materials using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Record shipment data such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies for record‑keeping purposes.
- Contact carrier representatives to arrange and issue instructions for shipping and delivery of material.
- Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
- Compute amounts such as space available, shipping, storage, and demurrage.
- Detail oriented – capacity to pay attention to minute details.
- Reliable – dependable and trustworthy.
- Relationship building – ability to build relationships with customers and coworkers.
- Computer skills – must be computer literate.
- Quick thinking – able to learn and think quickly.
- Organized – following a systematic method of performing a task.
