Goochland Cares seeks to hire an Annual Giving Manager focused on driving and achieving consistently strong annual fundraising results. This position involves crafting and executing a comprehensive strategy to secure, renew, and elevate annual gifts based on the specific interests and dedication of the donors. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this role carries significant responsibility in fostering philanthropic and special event support for Goochland Cares.
EssentialJob Functions
- Manages all aspects of the Annual Giving process, including segmentation of solicitations and mailings, goal progress reports, and analysis. Collaborates with Communications Manager to ensure direct mail appeals and other fundraising collateral have consistent branding, marketing and messaging.
- Creates and owns a comprehensive and mission-rich donor stewardship plan, working with the team to ensure execution.
- Works closely with the Development Coordinator to ensure the highest quality of data integrity. Works strategically with the Development Committee, senior leadership team, and other staff to support ongoing fundraising priorities.
- Collaborates with the Development team to recruit and engage a team of individual and group volunteers.
- Works with Chief Development Officer to secure event sponsor ships. Develops and implements strategies to follow up with event attendees to continue their engagement with Goochland Cares.
- Represents Goochland Cares as an onsite tour guide and at community events.
- Supports strategic growth and development team as able during fundraising initiatives and campaigns.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 5 years related fundraising experience, with evidence of a track record of success in annual giving
- Must have the ability to work in a collaborative, friendly, and respectful manner, with an appreciation and understanding for the goals and mission of Goochland Cares
- Proven ability to build relationships with donors, volunteers, colleagues, and other key constituents to raise philanthropic support
- Goal-oriented self-starter who can work under the pressure of short-term deadlines, while not losing sight of long‑term strategic goals and objectives
- Creative and innovative thinker who has the ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations. Must have flexibility to work at evening and weekend events with advance notice.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and analytical with strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Interest in pursuit of professional education and development, and growth within the organization.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365; creating and manipulating spreadsheets, and fundraising databases; knowledge of Bloomerang is a plus.
- Experience working with different databases is preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, typing, talking, and lifting.
- Occasional periods of working outside exposed to different weather conditions.
