Monday – Friday, Hours vary between 7:30 am and 7 pm

Occasional nights and weekends with proper notice

Primary Purpose

The Resource Development Assistant (RDA) provides administrative, event, and fundraising support to advance the mission and financial sustainability of the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck (BGCNN). Under the direction of the Chief Development Officer, the RDA assists with donor engagement, grant and sponsorship preparation, community outreach, and special events that build awareness and generate financial support across BGCNN’s service area.

This role works closely with Club leadership, staff, and board committees to support fundraising initiatives and strengthen community partnerships.

  • Assist with the preparation of grant proposals, sponsorship requests, and donor correspondence.
  • Support donor cultivation and stewardship activities, including acknowledgments and follow‑up.
  • Research prospective donors, sponsors, and funding opportunities.
  • Help coordinate fundraising campaigns and solicitations led by staff or board.
  • Maintain accurate donor and contribution records in development systems.
Special Events & Community Outreach
  • Assist in planning and implementing fundraising and community awareness events.
  • Support recruitment of sponsors and in‑kind donors for events and programs.
  • Participate in community outreach and public relations activities that increase awareness of BGCNN programs and services.
  • Track event participation, expenses, and outcomes.
Resource Development Administration
  • Prepare acknowledgment letters, donor reports, and mailing materials.
  • Track fundraising income, pledges, and event revenue/expenses.
  • Provide administrative support to the Chief Development Officer and committees.
  • Assist with campaign coordination and follow‑up communications.
  • Maintain files, databases, and documentation related to resource development.
Collaboration & Relationships

Internal: Maintain regular contact with the Chief Development Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Club staff, and board committees to coordinate fundraising activities.

External: Interact with donors, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and community partners to support BGCNN development efforts.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit, marketing, or administration preferred.
  • 1–3 years’ experience in administrative support, events, fundraising, or community relations preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization and time‑management ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database/web‑based systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
CERTIFICATION/ASSOCIATION
  • BGCA membership and required training.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability under BGCNN standards.
  • CPR/First Aid certification as required.
  • Ability to attend occasional professional development events.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS /WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use office equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 25 lbs. (assistance required above 25 lbs.).
  • Event setup/teardown and travel within the service area required.
