Job Purpose
The Volunteer Coordinator plays an integral role in our event – recruiting, scheduling, coordinating, and appreciating volunteers.
Position LocationPrimarily work‑from‑home with an occasional in‑person meeting; on site at the venue on dates listed in the contract.
Venue LocationPop’s Farm, 675 Hobson Road, Axton, VA 27253 (Home of Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival)
Position DatesJob to begin in February 2026. Position to end in early June 2026, upon completion of assigned volunteer management tasks.
Reports toKelly Cline, Human Resources Manager / Jessica Wilson, Festival Manager & Executive Team
Qualifications- Previous experience with volunteer management preferred
- The ability to work with little supervision
- Experience working within Airtable or Google spreadsheets
- Ability to multitask
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt in a fast‑paced working environment
- Ability to work independently at times while also being able to succeed as part of a team
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Sensitivity to customer and volunteer needs
- Experience driving a golf cart preferred
- In‑person event days will be outdoors - rain or shine
- Advance work and meetings from home with the potential for an in‑person meeting periodically
- Oversight at work weekends, as available
- Standing and walking
- Camping at the event during required on‑site days
- Monitor/correspond to email and received volunteer applications
- Respond to all volunteer applications (accepting or declining) based on our provided resources
- Make assignments and changes to volunteer schedules as needed
- Work with department managers to assist with scheduling volunteers
- Responsible for ensuring all volunteers on site are accounted for
- Manage volunteer deposits and refunds
- Manage festival administration, including the ticket allocation to volunteers, periodic reports as requested, volunteer feedback collection and reports, etc.
- Utilize the volunteer system provided by Rooster Walk for volunteer schedule management
- Ensure volunteers are given proper information and instruction
- Ensure a safe, clean and friendly environment
- Provide a good impression and enthusiastically answers any questions about the event
- Understand and comply with the Rooster Walk volunteer regulations and code of ethics
- Ambassadors for the event
- Opportunity to work with an experienced (and fun!) staff and volunteers

Rooster Walk is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to promoting music, arts and education in Martinsville-Henry County, Va. The nonprofit is best known for its Memorial Day event, Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival. A portion of the proceeds from Rooster Walk’s events go to a Music Instrument Program and a scholarship fund. Rooster Walk Inc. has raised more than $270,000 for local and regional charities since its inception in 2009.
